Eloise & Nicholas’ winter wedding

Cape Town is lovely for almost all things, but if you don’t want rain on your wedding day, Cape Town is not good for weddings June to August. SO, we don’t get to work on lots of winter weddings where we can play with cosy colours palettes filled with warm browns, rich pomegranate and lushy sage. ;(

You can just imagine our happy dance when Eloise asked us to work in just this palette AND paired with recycled papers. Oh such joy!!

Audrey & Pierpaolo’s travel inspired invitations

We haven’t quite tired of airmail inspired, travel theme wedding suites just yet, so had a great time telling Audrey & Pierpaolo’s story through little airplanes. We even created a postage stamp for them which we hand stamped on all 200 envelopes - fun!

SouthBound Bride

I have something just a bit different to show you today (and I am so excited to do so! EEK!)

You see, we have this dear friend of ours, Gaby. Now Gaby runs this beautiful wedding blog (it used to be called Cap Classique, but more about this in a minute!) and we have been admirers of her well, right from the very very start. But that is not why this is wow, because this has nothing to do with the fact that we like to believe we have a good eye for something great ;) …. no, this is a huge big shout out to a very special person. Gaby is a selfless blogger who’s passion for sharing beauty, showcasing talent and creating platforms for wedding vendors to share their work is just incredible. The amount of energy and time she is willing to spend on this passion, is a true inspiration and we are thrilled to let you know that it has paid off.

Gaby has grown right out of her Cap Classique shoes and is now the proud owner of a beautiful new website, called SouthBound Bride. We were absolutely elated when Gaby asked us to work with her on the identity and even more so as she shared her vision of creating an identity that is truly South African, beautiful, feminine, world class. We adored working with Gaby on this and wish her only the very best for the future.

Go on, go read it, bookmark it… I know you will fall in love!

Beautiful wedding - Katy & Stephen

Wow, I love these guys.

Katy & Stephen live on the other side of the world, but it feels like I already know them. We did some kick ass save the dates for them, then the invitations for the first part of their wedding celebrations (in Aus) and are now starting on the invitations for I Do Part II. Seriously cannot wait!

I literally jumped right out of my seat this morning when Katy sent me the link to the photos of their wedding day. How absolutely cool are they?!? Flip! ;) Oh, and Bennett Photography, you rock! See more of their photos here

Elsa & Bernhard are getting married (hooray!)

So, I have been bragging about the awesomeness up Ella and my sleeves… well, we couldn’t wait any longer to show you what we have been up to! Elsa is in love with paper cut out (and we must admit our long time crush on Rob Ryan’s work too!) and their wedding will be a true feast of love, colour and PAPER!

Oh and this is just the e-save the date… just imagine what the invitations will look like! EEEH! Excitement!

New Things

I never write personal blog posts. I try to keep the blog just about the work we do, sharing stationery, weddings and some other pretty things every now and then. But I have wanted to have a nice chat with you for a while now.

I started this Seven Swans dream of mine only a little while back actually. Seven Swans has been my full time job for less than a year and a half. Confession number two: I was doing it all by myself up to now. Admin, emails, liaising with suppliers, design, meeting clients, more design, sticking labels, packaging, proof reading… everything was just me. Luckily and by the biggest blessing, the lovely and super helpful Emma came to my rescue over the crazy wedding season. To say that I couldn’t have done it without her is the biggest understatement ever. She took over all of the finishing, quote scouting, driving and other admin tasks while I was designing for up to 7 weddings a weekend.

But I got tired. Very tired. And although my love for love will never stop burning (eek, that sounded lame…but it is true!) I felt I was slowly starting to run very low on creative juices. Then 2 things happened and actually that is what this post is all about:

1) My always-awesome, dream team friends, welovepictures, called me up and asked if I wanted to share a studio with them. (YAY!) I yelled YES! So we are very excited to soon be moving in to the (renovation busy as we speak) Woodstock Industrial Centre, Albert Road. I can’t wait to have clients over to our little creative space, to sip some tea while looking over at Lion’s Head and chatting about your special day. Flippen’ can’t wait!!
2) I am so proud to announce that the new addition to my team fits Seven Swans like a glove. Ella is not only ever-smiling with a heart of gold, she is also killer when it comes to illustration and design. We can’t wait to show off what she has been up to the past month!

I am so excited to announce that with a second pair of hands we will be able to bring you even more of what you have been loving the last year and a half. We have some awesomeness up our sleeves, Ella and I! With new avenues to explore (think hand written fonts, calligraphy, bespoke illustration and patterns) and pretty soon, a new inspiring space for you to come visit!

Hope to see you in our Woodstock studio real soon!

xx

Pretty pressies for The Pretty Blog

Oh oops, time seems to be flying and almost a week has gone by since we did this lovely little DIY for our Pretty Blog readers! We created labels, tags and wrapping paper to pretty up last minute gifts, which you can easily download and print at home or at your local printer.

Go have a look!
