Crisp Autumn Air

Autumn is my favourite season.

It’s the start of hot chocolate season in my mind and even though our winter never gets that cold I love stocking up with blankets, scarves and cute gloves. I love that when the colours start to change you notice nature in a way you never did before. Sigh.

Just another one of the lovely pics on Rachel Follett’s Nature Pinterest board.

Colour Lover - Foreign Frolics

Oh the mystery & charm of a faraway city… sigh. Wandering foreign pathways, stumbling upon hidden treasures. Feeding birds in the square & splashing your companion from the fountain.

Oh for a frolic on the streets of Rome, taking in sights like this. In the mood for a visual feast? There’s more where this came from: This is Glamorous.

Colour Lover - Embracing Autumn

Don’t be sad Mother City, as the summer slinks away.
These swans don’t mind the odd rainy day, overcast with a little drizzle. Snuggling weather, soup weather, make yourself a quilt in these colours weather…

So make some soup, rent some series & embrace the season of change.

Colour Lover - Chanel Chic

Red lips. French shutters. Chic dress. Clean Colours.
Could this be Coco Chanel in her youth?

We think so.

Colour Lover - Denim Glow

This beauty goes out to all our Northern Hemisphere friends.

As you eagerly await the arrival of Spring, but can still get away with snug coats & berets on snowy golden streets, some of us secretly look forward to cooler days down South.

*We found this image on pinterest & would love to know it’s original source. If you know, please let us know!

Colour Lover - So Subtle

Our ‘Colour Lovers’ are all about, well, us loving colour. Gorgeous images with colours that fire our imagination; be they bright & cheerful, soft & dreamy or dark & stormy.

Today’s photo is a from a shoot for Dutch fashion designers Noa Noa.

The light. That umbrella. Her outfit, calling to the bohemian in all of us.

Colour Lover - Summer Strolls

Summer is stretching on in all it’s glory here in Cape Town. The days are still deliciously long; with the sun up late enough to stroll along the beach front after work, or sip cocktails in the garden while dinner cooks on the braai.

Not as many of us make the most of how early the sun is up, however. When you see images like this you wonder why. Soft light, gorgeous warm colours welcoming the day… sigh. It might be time to set the alarm a bit earlier.

We found this gorgeous photo by Nessa K here - go check out the rest of the shoot. More of Nessa K’s lovely work here

Colour lover - Spring is here!

The sun is out and shining! Yay! We’re just loving the blue skies and warmth in the air. Here are some bright colours to spread the happiness!

Colour lover - hints of spring!

We can feel it coming…spring! We’re sure we’ll still get some typical Cape Town downpours, but it’s in the air and we LOVE it! These soft clouds and pretty colours made us feel happy inside. Enjoy!

Colour lover - botanical bliss

It has been a while since we have done a colour lover post…not actually sure why, but I must say, we have been kept very busy with amazing colour palettes the last while. Hues of sunshine and skyblue; rich chocolatey browns paired with amazing aqua and mustard yellow (I know, right!); pink lemonade and coral; elegant peach and black; arms full of lovely playful pastels; and so many variaties of purple.

While I love love LOVE delightfully bold colour (I mean, my own wedding was red and aqua!), the ranges of nudes, blushes and other naturals we have been seeing give me a sense of calm which I am just adoring right now. The purity of stripped down colour and raw neutrals gives us opportunity to play with textures, recycled papers (we are still not over kraft!) and lovely things like stamps, twine and linen pockets. Oh, I am just in love with the trends right now!

Colour lover - Pomegranate and sage!

These past few chilly days have made us long for wood fires and warm colours. Make sure you bundle up over the weekend!

Colour Lover - Autumn is coming

cool breezes at night, darker in the mornings, hot cross buns in the shops… autumn is coming. i can feel it” Miss Moss

Yup, it is. I can feel it in the evenings which doesn’t quite feel as balmy as a few weeks ago. I’ve also been wearing my jeans more and watermelon cravings have been replaced with day dreams of chunky soups with toasted baguettes.

Colour Lover - Calming Neutrals

When life gets busy, I wish to get whisked away in a dreamy palette of neutrals. So you can imagine how excited we are about a wedding invite currently in press, where we have letterpressed white on white - keep your eyes peeled, it is gorgeous!

I visited Morocco a few years ago and fell madly, head over heels, in love with this beautiful country. I love their richness of vibrant colours, always offset by moody browns and dirt.

So you can just imagine my heart leap when I saw these amazing images on 100 LayerCake! My fingers just itched to create a Colour Lover for you today. Hope you love it as much as I do!

Let’s start this week off with a lovely Autumn colour palette!

I have loved this engagement shoot from the very first moment I laid eyes on it and I must admit, the pic has stayed safely stashed away in one of my Pinterest boards for quite some time. The awesomeness of this classic, almost 50s style shoot got the better of me though and I delight in sharing!

Its Friday, its the first of April AND we are in a super good mood here at Seven Swans. Well, who wouldn’t be if they found a picture of a tiny superwoman in such cool attire? Huh?

Wouldn’t you just LOVE to see wedding stationery in these colours? Soothing greys, fresh green and a touch of blush. It reminds me little girls with ruddy cheeks running around in dreamy dresses, late afternoon G & Ts with big slices of lime, cucumber sandwiches… it’s just lovely!

I think I have finally made peace with the fact that after Summer (those magic months when days seem to last forever, watermelon and white wine is all you ever crave and every day is a summers dress day) must come Autumn. I guess it’s not all bad. When I think of it, it’s actually not that bad at all… for one, we can drink coffee again (without having to jump in a swimming pool straight after!), I can start wearing my lovely collection of beloved scarves… oh, and with colours like these, I might just fall right in love with Autumn!

In the hope of summer staying just a little bit longer before autumn sets in, we bring you this gorgeous colour palette. Reminds me of cream soda and marshmellows, streaks of afternoon sunshine and belly laughs. Lovely! I can just imagine a bright baby shower or little girls’ tea party in these colours!
